Dealing with heavy foot fall in a massive HQ, as always health and safety was key!

After being called out by Barnwood Shopfitting to remove some scratches from a Basalt Limestone floor in a massive HQ. Following the consultation stage, a test patch area was agreed to go ahead. With some simple questions it soon became clear we had the task of using a more aggressive floor stripping agent. Although, the majority of the time we like to use products made from natural extracts with no strong odours. However, the one to hand had so much kick to it, it would burn a hole in your arm if not used correctly. In addition, a very strong solvent smell.
So from here you can probably imagine the task of health and safety we had at hand. Especially for such a busy place with high amounts of people passing by on this commercial limestone floor. It was not just ourselves at risk of health and safety issues, but the employees too. Having such a pungent, aggressive chemical to work with.
How did we keep things safe?
We cordoned off the whole working area with safety cones. To keep the solvent fumes down we placed a specially designed plastic sheeting, over the floor stripping product. Also, air movers were present around the whole building to keep fresh air movement at all times. Full PPE had to be worn on our part from TyVek protective suits, safety glasses, chemical resistant boots and gloves for our complete health and safety.
