What does Urine decontamination mean?
Decontamination means “remove contamination”. Not just clean the surface like some carpet cleaners do, or charge you to spray the surface with a deodorising product. That is only going to succeed in taking money from your wallet.
Once the urine makes its way to the carpet, padding and sub-floor levels, you have three areas that can hold the odour. Along with bacteria and salts that damage your carpet fibres and assist in permanent staining. This can happen if left un-treated for too long.
Some small areas, without having to remove the carpet, can be treated. However, a regular corner of a room your pet persists, may involve removing and replacing the carpet or rug pad. This means treating the floor and salvaging the carpet.
Major contamination involves pulling up the carpet and underlay for disposal (in some cases the carpet can be salvaged).
- If specialist treatments are not used to treat the sub-floor, musty smells will not go away.
- Urine generates bacteria from salts. Bad smells will keep re-appearing if these salts are not removed. For example, within room temperatures that it thrives in.

- SPOT TREATMENT (Urine Decontamination)
If the pet urine is only on the surface of the carpet and has not yet worked its way into the padding and sub-floor, it may only require minor treatment.
Our urine spot treatment is developed specifically for the neutralisation and deodorising of urine contaminated carpet. Similarly, with upholstery and hard surfaces. This procedure is not intended to remove severe contaminations. However, it will help reduce odours,(this is merely treating the surface of the carpet). If you can smell urine when you walk in a room, this is not a minor odour. This carpet cleaning procedure will help reduce or control but will not eliminate it.
On a humid day, minor odours can be smelt or furthermore, if you put your nose to the source.
- SUB-SURFACE TREATMENT (Urine Decontamination)
Once the urine has made its way down to the padding only and not the sub-floor, this moderate approach may save the day. This procedure can only be used on ground level floors. In addition, must only be carried out by professionals. Whilst saturating the area with our deodorising solution designed to counteract odours. Also, digest the source and salts once the agent reaches into the padding and left to dwell.
Using sub-surface extraction to pull out the urine and leave your carpet quite somewhat dry, this process will remove all urine and reduce the odour significantly. This may or may not completely cure severe concerns. In addition, may require the skill and knowledge as expert cleaners using specialist odour removal techniques, to eliminate that dreaded smell for good.

When urine has worked its way to the padding and deep down to the sub-floor, you will need this gone 4 good treatment. It’s designed to completely eliminate the odour forever, guaranteed. However, this is as long as all affected areas can be reached. The principles of this can be very much similar to the expertise of blood stain removal.
The carpet gets carefully lifted up and the padding cut out and discarded. If the carpet is salvageable and the backing has not delaminated, the carpet is treated and thoroughly cleaned. This is done on both sides to neutralize the urine. The sub-floor is also decontaminated and specialist treatments applied. If necessary, to the skirting boards as well.
An anti- microbial that removes 99.999999% of bacteria, is heavily sprayed on the front and back of the carpet.
A new pad is fitted and the carpet is re-installed. Just like the bad smell, it’s all a thing of the past!
